OMAR A. MOHANNA
President – AmCham Egypt
Chairman, Suez Cement Group of Companies

Omar Mohanna is chairman of Suez Cement Group of Companies, the largest cement producer in Egypt, and is a board member of ACE Insurance Co., Egypt.

Mr. Mohanna has over 25 years of commercial and investment banking experience with Egyptian and international financial institutions, which culminated in the position of vice chairman and managing director of EgyptArabAfrican Bank (EAAB). He has also held the position of managing director of Accor Hotels Group in Egypt and has been a member of the board of directors of diverse companies.

Mr. Mohanna actively supports the interests of the Egyptian business community as president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, honorary chairman of the Egyptian Insurance Brokers’ Association (EIBA), and member of the U.S.-Egypt Business Council, Egypt’s International Economic Forum and the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association, among others. At the broader community level, he is board member of the New Civic Forum, the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs and the Association for the Protection of the Environment.

As an economist, he brings his expertise to bear at the policy level in his capacity as vice chairman of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES), member of the general assembly of the Holding Company for Roads, Bridges & Land Transport Projects, member of the board of trustees of the Egyptian Institute of Directors (EIoD), and board member of the Industrial Training Council (ITC).

ANIS ACLIMANDOS
Executive Vice President – AmCham Egypt
President, TransCentury Associates

Anis Aclimandos is the president of TransCentury Associates, which manages development projects worldwide. He is also president of Woodies, a subsidiary of TCA, which is the import agent for Eastman-Kodak.

Mr. Aclimandos joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1983. He was elected to the board of governors in 1987 and re-elected in 1988 and 2007. He has served as chair of AmCham’s Customs, Investment & Trade and International Donor Programs committees, and as vice president, membership from 2001 to 2005.

A certified accountant, Mr. Aclimandos earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in accounting from Cairo University and holds Egyptian and U.S. certification in financial management and analysis.

Adel Danish
Vice President, Membership – AmCham Egypt
Chairman and CEO, Xceed Contact Center

Adel Danish is the chairman and CEO of Xceed, a Telecom Egypt subsidiary established in 2001 to act as its information technology arm. Dr. Danish began his career as a researcher at the IBM Scientific Center in Paris, France, going on to hold several technical and marketing positions within IBM. He founded StandardData S.A. in France in 1978, and is the founder and co-founder of several other companies in the IT field in Egypt, France and the United States.

Dr. Danish was appointed a member of the board of directors of Telecom Egypt in June 2000, served on the board of directors of the Egyptian High Tech Association from 1998 to 1999, and has been a member of the board of trustees of the French University in Egypt since 1998. He has been a member ofAmCham Egypt since 1990, and established its Information Technology Committee, which he chaired for two terms. He also served as president of the Club d’Affaires Franco-Egyptien in 1996 and 1997, and serves as a board member of the U.S.-Egypt Business Council.

At the international level, Dr. Danish has co-chaired theArab Business Forum for Information & Communications Technology (ABFICT) since 2001. He is on the Business Steering Committee of the “Global Business Dialogue on Electronic Commerce” (GBDe), where he played an active role as co-chairman for the Europe/Africa region from 2004 to 2005.

Dr. Danish is the author and co-author of several European and American patents in the areas of telecommunications and information technology, and was awarded the “Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite” in France in 2000.

Hala El Barkouky
Member of the Board – AmCham Egypt
Managing Partner, Allied Business Consultants

Hala El Barkouky is a business transformation management consultant. She is the managing partner and founder of Allied Business Consultants (ABC) and director of the Women Investment International Portfolio (WIIP), South Africa.
Since its inception in 1996, ABC has been contracted for the provision of privatization advisory services to the Government of Egypt. ABC’s scope of activities includes international business in the field of investment banking and business restructuring. Ms. El Barkouky joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in the mid-1990s. She is currently chair of AmCham’s Women in Business Committee and has held committee co-chair positions since 2002. She is also a member of the Egyptian Capital Market Association and the Egyptian Economic Forum, and was a speaker at the Women in Public Life Summit, Bermuda, on the subject of women and peace.
Ms. El Barkouky holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in communications from the American University in Cairo, graduated from the Chase Manhattan Bank credit appraisal course and completed the Harvard Institute for International Development’s program in investment appraisal and development.

Hisham A. Fahmy
Executive Director – AmCham Egypt

Hisham Fahmy has been the executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt since December 1999, and held the position of general manager from 1987 to 1993. He is also the chairman of the Egyptian Society of Association Executives (EgSAE), an association whose mission is to enhance the professional management of associations in Egypt. Mr. Fahmy previously served as acting director of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies, a non-profit think tank that carries out and disseminates independent economic research, and worked on implementing programs that furthered the center’s mission and oversaw the financing and administration that sustains them.
Mr. Fahmy developed quality systems and initiated business contacts between one of Egypt’s largest international corpora¬tions, International Group of Investment (IGI), and its clients and suppliers.
He spent a decade acquiring firsthand private sector exper¬tise in travel and tourism, and representing engineering, con¬struction and electronics firms.
Mr. Fahmy graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1974 with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

AMAL ABOU-GABAL
Int’l Business Development Manager, N. America & Europe Regions Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA)

Amal Abou Gabal is the International Business Development Manager for Americas & Europe regions at the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), which is affiliated with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT). Ms.

Abou Gabal has 15 years of experience in business development, system analysis, design, testing, and project management in the telecommunication and technology sectors both domestically and internationally. She is currently responsible for attracting and advising multinational companies on their direct investments to establish successful business models in Egypt and the region, as well as targeting new international business opportunities for SMEs to expand their market share.

Ms. Abou Gabal worked in Florida and Texas for over 13 years. In 1991-92, she worked for the Egyptian Consulate in Houston, Texas, boosting the U.S.-Egyptian relationship in the field of tourism. She also worked as a Banking Representative for Bank of America from 1992 to 1993; a Business System Analyst for Salomon Smith Barney (formerly Salomon Brothers) from 1996 to 1998; and a Business Process Analyst (architecture and planning) for Verizon Data Services (formerly GTE Data Services) from 1998 to 1999. She also worked at Syniverse Technologies (formerly Verizon Telecommunication Services) from March 1999 to 2006, first as a Senior Systems Engineer then as an Implementation Manager (operations and customer support).

Ms. Abou Gabal received a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of South Florida and a B.S. in business administration from Cairo University. She is nearing completion of an MBA program at the University of Tampa.

Amr A. Kabil
Group Vice President, National Stevedoring Group


Amr Kabil is group vice president and vice chairman of National Stevedoring Group, general manager and adviser to the chairman of the Travco Group of hotel companies, and chairman and CEO of Modern Egyptian Transport Co. (METCO).
He is also an administrator for the Club d’Affaires Franco-Egyptien and a mechanical engineer for the Conservatoire National des Arts et Metiers.

AMR MAHMOUD ABDEL-HAKIM
Board Member, Al Shorouk Hospital

Amr Mahmoud Abdel-Hakim graduated from Cairo University’s Faculty of Medicine with honors in 1973, completing a Master’s degree in Urology in 1977 and a doctorate in urology in 1981. He was a Research and Clinical Fellow at Sherbrooke University in Canada for four years. Dr. Abdel-Hakim holds teaching positions in the urology departments at both Cairo University and George Washington University. He is the head of the Laparoscopy Division of the Egyptian Urological Association.

Dr. Abdel-Hakim is a member of many prestigious medical organizations, including the Egyptian Urological Association, Egyptian Society of Surgeons, American Urological Association, Endourology Society, Societe Internationale d'Urologie (SIU), European Association of Urology (EAU) and the International Registry for Laparoscopic Cystectomy. He is also board member of Al Shorouk Hospital, a multi-specialty hospital founded in 1996.

CHERINE SCANDAR
President & CEO, SODECO Group

Cherine Scandar holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from Cairo University in 1981. He owned a company for a time in the United States before returning to Egypt to establish SODECO Group, an umbrella for seven interrelated and complementary engineering and contracting companies. Since 1986, the group has provided professional turnkey services for a multitude of projects in the industrial, commercial, public, private and resource sectors in Egypt and the Arab world. Mr. Scandar is also an owner and major shareholder in Soficopharm, one of the largest importers and distributors of pharmaceutical and raw materials and products in Egypt.

Mr. Scandar served on the Board of Governors of AmCham Egypt, and was Chairman of AmCham’s Engineering and Construction Committee for two terms. He is also a board member of the Club D’Affaires Franco-Egyptien, and a member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Canada-Egypt Business Council.

HASSAN HASSANIN HASSAAN
Chairman, International Drug Agencies

Hassan Hassanin Hassaan worked as the Area Manager (Saudi Arabia) of Germany’s Heinrich Mack for 14 years, gaining extensive international experience in managing multinational pharmaceutical companies, and a track record in business development.

Mr. Hassaan established three pharmaceutical companies in Egypt: Sina Pharm, International Drug Agencies (IDA) and International Drug Industries (IDI). The three companies provide unique drug products for the local and international market.

He is also the head of Egypt’s scientific office for German pharmaceutical firm STADA.

HISHAM FAHMY
Vice President, Logix Corporation

Hisham Fahmy graduated from Alexandria University in 1968 as a Chemical Engineer. He started his career with the American Oil Company (AMOCO). He then moved to London, where he obtained his Ph’D in Chemistry from the University of London in 1976.

Dr. Fahmy developed a strong reputation in the business development field, heading Egyptian and American companies specialized in the industrial sector, as well as oil and gas companies in Egypt. He is currently Vice President of Logix Corporation and Managing Partner of TAM Oilfield Services.

MOHAMED ZAKARIA MOHIELDIN
Managing Director, National Company for Chemical Industries


Mohamed Zakaria Mohieldin is the Managing Director of the National Company for Chemical Industries. Mr. Mohieldin was born in Giza in 1956. He graduated with a BSc. in Chemistry from The American University in Cairo and a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.

He has extensive experience, both globally and locally, in the field of chemical industries, having begun his career with Hoechst, moving on to Procter & Gamble before establishing his own business in Egypt.

Mr. Mohieldin has served as an AmCham member since 1996. He is also a member of the AICHE, Club d’Affaires, the Federation of Industries and the Chamber of Commerce. He is also a board member of several companies in Egypt.

MONA ASHOUR
Vice President, Crédit Agricole, Egypt

MonaAshour graduated from theAmerican University in Cairo with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She joined the Egyptian-American Bank (EAB) in 1990 as an administrative assistant in the Corporate Banking Division. The bank was acquired by Crédit Agricole Group in early 2006.

Ms. Ashour is currently Senior Vice President and Multinationals Sector Head in the Corporate Banking Division of Crédit Agricole Egypt. She is in charge of a portfolio of customers related to multinational companies operating in Egypt.

RAOUF ABDEL MESSIH
Chairman, Technoram Holding

Raouf Abdel Messih is a founder and co-founder of many companies in the field of information technology, telecommunications and media in both Egypt and the United States. He is the founder and chairman of Technoram Holding, a leading investor in the fields of information technology and telecommunications. He also represents some of the largest multinational companies in the field of telecommunications, including Alcatel.

Mr.Abdel Messih owns a large interest in one of the leading freight forwarding companies in Egypt, and is a member of the board and advisory boards in a number of investment funds. He has served as a board member of the French Egyptian Presidential Council, the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt and the French Chamber of Commerce. He received the distinguished title of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur from the French government.

Mr. Abdel Messih is a graduate of the French school of the Jesuits and has a BSc. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Cairo University.

SALAH HAFEZ
Chairman and CEO, National Petroleum Company

Saleh Hafez is the chairman and CEO of the National Petroleum Company, a joint stock company active in the exploration and production of oil and gas in Egypt and abroad. He holds a BSc. in Physics and Chemistry from Ain Shams University, and a Master’s degree in Geophysics from the University of Leeds, UK.

Mr. Hafez has nearly 30 years’ experience in the petroleum business, having worked in a broad range of roles within the field as a scientist, professor and business manager. He began his career as a geophysicist, working in a number of Egyptian and international oil companies during the 1960s and 70s. Between 1983 and 1991 he held senior managerial positions in large Egyptian oil and environmental organizations, including Suez Oil Company, Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Authority (EEAA). During this period, he was appointed as a member of the board of directors for several major petroleum companies and research institutions.

From 1998 to 2006, Mr. Hafez served as chairman and CEO of Energy and Environmental Services and Systems, a consulting firm to help service and industrial enterprises reduce pollution and energy consumption, and boost productivity. In 2006, he was appointed as chairman and CEO of the National Petroleum Company.

Mr. Hafez has published several articles in the fields of petroleum exploration, management and environment.

TAWFIK DIAB
Co-Chair, Energy Committee – AmCham Egypt
Managing Director, PICO International Petroleum

Tawfik Diab graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo in June 1998. After graduation he completed a range of independent coursework in areas including financial analysis, corporate and investment appraisal and risk management, as well as specific courses in corporate governance.

Mr. Diab joined PICO Investments in 1998 as Investment/Portfolio Manager, serving as the Firm’s Managing Director from 2000 to 2002.

He went on to occupy the position of Business Development Manager at PICO Energy from June 2002 until December 2003 before moving in January 2003 to PICO International Petroleum, where he holds the position of Managing Director.

Amongst his responsibilities is looking after the interests of PICO and its subsidiaries, as well as PICO’s joint ventures with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation.Mr. Diab is developing the company’s portfolios both in Egypt and internationally. On the Group level he is also responsible for financial and legal restructuring initiatives of the PICO Group, a member of the evaluation committee for new investment opportunities and of the corporate governance committee.
