Taher S. Helmy
President, AmCham Egypt
Partner, Helmy, Hamza & Partners (Baker & McKenzie)

Taher S. Helmy was elected president of AmCham Egypt in May 2003. He is a partner in the Chicago-based international law firm Baker & McKenzie and a founding partner in the firm's Cairo and Riyadh offices.

Dr. Helmy has participated in the drafting and/or reviewing of key economic legislation in Egypt over the years. He is the founder and chairman of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies and a founder of the International Economic Forum and the Future Generation Foundation. He also served for three terms as a member of the U.S.-Egypt Presidents' Council.

In addition, Dr. Helmy was recently appointed to the governing National Democratic Party's Supreme Policies Council, as well as the party's Economic Committee.

Dr. Helmy has been practicing since 1974 in corporate, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, and commercial law. He is a member of the Chicago, Illinois and Egyptian Bar Associations, was the first Arab national to be admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, and has been admitted before the Egyptian Supreme Court.

After completing his studies in the United States, Dr. Helmy practiced almost 10 years in New York and Chicago before returning to the Middle East.

D.Dan McCarthy
Executive Vice President - AmCham Egypt
Chairman and Managing Director, General Motors Egypt, S.A.E.

Dan McCarthy began his 37-year career with General Motors in manufacturing with the Pontiac Division. Since then, he has held various manufacturing and general management positions in the United States. He was the original GM factory manager in Egypt, as well as managing director in Kenya and New Zealand. His last position was in GM's North American Operations as director of the Worldwide Facilities Group.

Mr. McCarthy holds a Bachelor's of Science from the Ohio State University and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Detroit.

General Motors Egypt S.A.E. is a joint venture company for the production of Chevrolet and Isuzu pickups, a range of light-duty trucks, minibus chassis, Opel passenger cars, and Chevrolet Frontera and Isuzu Rodeo sport-utility vehicles.

ANIS ACLIMANDOS
Vice President, Membership - AmCham Egypt
President, TransCentury Associates

Anis Aclimandos joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1983. He was elected to the Board of Governors in 1987 and re-elected in 1988. He was chair of the AmCham Customs Committee in 1989, of the Investment & Trade Committee from 1991 to 1994, and chair of the International Donor Programs Committee up to his election as vice president, membership in 2001.

Mr. Aclimandos is the president of TransCentury Associates, which manages development projects worldwide. He is also president of "Woodies," a subsidiary of TCA, which is the import agent for Eastman-Kodak.

A certified accountant, Mr. Aclimandos earned a Bachelor's of Arts in accounting from Cairo University and holds Egyptian and U.S. certification in financial management and analysis.

OMAR El DERINI
Vice President, Programs - AmCham Egypt
Chairman and Managing Director, FAOM Consult/ Red Wing Int'l

Omar El Derini joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1985. He was elected to the Board of Governors in 1988 and again in 1990. He was chair of the Trade Committee from 1993 to 1996, and in 1997 was elected as a member of the Board. In 1999, he was re-elected as vice president, programs.

Mr. El Derini has been with Red Wing International since 1976 and is currently vice president for the Middle East and North Africa. He is also the chairman and managing director of FAOM consult, a firm engaged in project development, investment and marketing, mainly in the fields of power, petroleum, tourism, garments and leather products.

Mr. El Derini received a Bachelor's of Arts in accounting and management from Cairo University in 1970 and a diploma in marketing and sales from the University of Minnesota in 1977.

Mr. El Derini is also a board member of the Egyptian Federation of Industries, Chamber of Leather Products, and chairman of the Leather Products Council.

THOMAS (TOM) E. THOMASON
Vice President, Legal Affairs - AmCham Egypt
Vice President, InterGen Energy, Inc.

Tom Thomason joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1994. He has served as AmCham executive vice president, chair of the Engineering & Construction Committee and is currently on the Board of Governors serving as vice president, legal affairs. He also serves on the boards of the Bilateral Fulbright Commission and the American University in Cairo.

Mr. Thomason is vice president of InterGen (a global energy company owned by Shell and Bechtel), which develops, owns and operates power plants and related fuel and electricity infrastructure. InterGen is working in 14 countries, operating and building a total of 21 power stations representing 16,770 megawatts. Joined by Edison Termoelettrica of Italy, InterGen is the developer and owner/operator of Egypt's first privately owned and operated power plant, a $480 million project completed in January 2002 and now in operation selling electricity to the government.

Mr. Thomason holds a Bachelor's of Arts and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas.

HESHAM MEKAWI
Member of the Board - AmCham Egypt
Chairman, BP Egypt

Hesham Mekawi graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University in 1983. He worked as an engineer for four years before traveling to the United States to pursue a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Boston University.

In 1990, Mr. Mekawi joined Amoco in Egypt as an economic analyst. In 1991, he began an international assignment in the United States, working in Houston as a senior economic analyst, and then Chicago in the Strategic Planning Group and the Financial Operations Group as a senior financial analyst and planner. In 1995, he returned to Houston as commercial director and took charge of business development in the Middle East.

Following the announcement in August 1998 of the merger between British Petroleum Company and Amoco Corporation, he was appointed executive assistant in BP Amoco Exploration, London. One year later, he was appointed the role of business unit leader for oil operations in Algeria, working from the company's headquarters in London. In July 2001, Mr. Mekawi retuned to Egypt as chairman of BP Egypt.

MOHAMED TAYMOUR
Member of the Board - AmCham Egypt
Chairman, EFG-Hermes Holdings

Mohamed Taymour is the chairman and founder of EFG-Hermes, an investment bank specializing in a range of activities that include brokerage and asset management, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and privatization. EFG-Hermes is listed on both the London and Cairo stock exchanges.

Dr. Taymour has worked as a consultant - for both the Egyptian government and private institutions - on a variety of economic matters, and has held senior positions in investment banking and development banking institutions in Egypt, the United States and Kuwait.

Additionally, Dr. Taymour has been a prominent member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt since 1988, serving as chair of the Investment Committee from 1991 to 1997 and chair of the Stock Exchange Committee from 1998 to 2002. In 2003, he was elected as a member of the AmCham Board of Governors. He is currently the chairman of the Egyptian Capital Market Association; a board member of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies; and a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Taymour earned a doctorate degree from Dartmouth University in the United States and a Bachelor's of Science in industrial engineering from Cairo University.

LOULA ZAKLAMA
Member of the Board - AmCham Egypt
President and Managing Director, Rada Research & Public Relations Co.

Loula Zaklama is a public relations and marketing expert with 40 years of experience in advertising, marketing, data analysis and public awareness campaigning.
In 1982, she founded Rada Research & Public Relations Co., a private marketing research and public relations firm in Egypt.

Ms. Zaklama joined AmCham Egypt in 1985, and is currently a member of the Board of Governors. She is also a member of the board of Gallup International and a member of the board of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA). She was also elected world president of IPRA for 2006 and was chairman of the International Public Relations Associations Conference held in Egypt in October 2002.

Ms. Zaklama was awarded a medal of merit by the International Advertising Association, Chicago, in 1986 - a medal given every two years for outstanding contributions to the advertising industry. She is one of 10 individuals to have been selected from around the world for this distinguished award. She also received a certificate of excellence from the International Public Relations Association in 1993, and was selected as one of the 50 leading women entrepreneurs of the world by the Star Group, sponsored by IBM and Fortune Magazine, in May 1998.

HISHAM A. FAHMY
Executive Director - AmCham Egypt

Hisham A. Fahmy is the executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. Mr. Fahmy previously held the position of general manager of AmCham Egypt from 1987 to 1993.

As acting director of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies, a non-profit think tank that carries out and disseminates independent economic research, Mr. Fahmy implemented programs that furthered the center's mission and oversaw the financing and administration that sustains them.

Mr. Fahmy also developed quality systems and initiated business contacts between one of Egypt's largest international corporations, International Group of Investment (IGI), and its clients and suppliers.

Mr. Fahmy spent a decade acquiring firsthand private sector expertise in travel and tourism, and representing engineering, construction and electronics firms.

Mr. Fahmy graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1974 with a Bachelor's degree in chemistry and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and chairman of the Egyptian Society of Association Executives (EgSAE).

ABDEL-KHALEK AYAD
President, Cornerstone

Abdel-Khalek Ayad has been in the oil and gas industry for 40 years, working in Texas's rich oil sector, helping develop the oil industry in Abu Dhabi and most recently holding a number of distinguished posts in Egypt.

Mr. Ayad is former chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, which is the state-run partner in all multinational oil and gas exploration and production companies operating in Egypt. In addition to being managing director for several American and European drilling companies, Mr. Ayad has also served as an investment and financial consultant to the minister of petroleum.

Now, Mr. Ayad is president of Cornerstone, a business development firm offering consulting services to a number of companies operating in the petroleum, financial and transport sectors. Cornerstone has used its technical and financial expertise to prepare market and financial studies for the region.

Mr. Ayad was a member of the board of both APRICORP and Arab Petroleum Services, both owned by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries. He currently sits as chairman of the board for the new Suez Canal Container Terminal.

AHMED M. EL HAKIM
Health Policy & External Affairs Director,
Pfizer Egypt and Middle East Region

Ahmed M. El Hakim joined Pfizer Egypt in 1977, in the sales department. Over the years, he held different positions of increasing responsibility for Pfizer, in Egypt and the Middle East in sales and marketing. In 1992, he was appointed as general manager for Pfizer in Saudi Arabia until 1996, when he was located in Dubai as regional manager for the Middle East Arab Group (MEAG).

Dr. El Hakim has been in his current position since 1998, contributing to the growth of the external affairs' function as one of the core competencies for Pfizer and the research-based pharmaceutical industry. In this current role, he also sits on the Management Leadership Team for Middle East Business.

He is a member of the executive committee of the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers Association of the Gulf "PhRMAG" and the secretary-general of the Egyptian Association for Research & Manufacturers of Pharmaceuticals "PhRMA-Egypt". He is a Licensing Executives Society (LES) member (USA & Canada). Dr. El Hakim holds a Bachelor's of Science in veterinary medicine from Cairo University.

AKRAM E. FARAG
Co-Chair, Information & Communications Technology Committee - AmCham Egypt
Chairman and Managing Director, Digital Systems Middle East, S.A.E.

Akram E. Farag is the chairman and managing director of Digital Systems Middle East, which he founded in 1996 as a regional ICT system integrator. Overall, DSME can be characterized as an aggressive dynamic regional integrator of state-of-the-art IT and communications solutions.

Throughout a career focused on ICT services, Mr. Farag co-founded and managed InTouch Communications Services in 1992 (the first ISP in the Middle East). Prior to that, he held managerial positions with Dialog Information Services and GE Information Services among others. He also founded Digital Technologies Corp., MagicWorx Enterprises Corp., offering value-added hotel entertainment systems, and co-founded Egypt Smart Village Co.

He is the co-chair of AmCham's ICT Committee, a founding member of the Internet Society of Egypt, an active member of AmCham and ISOC, a board member of the Arab Business Forum for Information & Communications Technology (ABFICT), vice chairman of the ITU Private Sector Task Force for the Arab Region, and a member of the Ministerial IT Industry Development Workgroup as well as the AUC President Club.

AL-FAHD AL-TARZI
Project Manager, Egyptian Advisory House

Al-Fahd Al-Tarzi is a graduate of the American University in Cairo and holds a degree in political science, with a specialization in political economy and a minor in economics. He has also studied at the University of California in Los Angeles.

Mr. Al-Tarzi's work experience includes BMW in Munich, Germany, McDonalds Egypt and Merrill Lynch in London, where he was responsible for identifying investment opportunities and compiling sector valuations in developing nations.

He went on to join Permal Investment Management Services in London, a subsidiary of Permal Asset Management of New York, and then eventually moved on to work for Pitcairn Properties, a real estate financing firm, in Horsham, Pennsylvania.

Currently, Mr. Al-Tarzi works for Egyptian Advisory House, mainly on establishing an Islamic, Shariah-compliant regional transient housing real estate fund, and a conventional, open-ended real estate investment fund.

Mr. Al-Tarzi is a member of the National Democratic Party, the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt and the Egyptian Shooting Federation.

AMRO ALTAHAWI
President and CEO, Adamson Brothers

Amro Altahawi is the founder of Adamson Brothers Inc. and presently serves as the president and chairman of the board of directors for Adamson Brothers. Adamson Brothers Inc. is a full-service investment house, investment bank and mortgage bank, and is registered with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), a member of the NASD and a member of the Pacific Stock Exchange in the United States.

Dr. Altahawi's experience in the brokerage industry allowed him to create this full-service broker-dealer/investment bank and mortgage bank.

Adamson Brothers brokerages provide a variety of finance services to multinational corporations as well as local and regional companies.

Dr. Altahawi holds a law degree from Cairo University, and a Ph.D. in finance from Harrington University. He is currently a member of AmCham Egypt and a board member of the Egyptian American Business Association. He has written numerous articles about investing in the U.S. markets, and has also appeared on television.

DAHLIA KHALIFA
CEO, Global Capital Group, S.A.E.

Dahlia Khalifa is the CEO of Global Capital Group S.A.E., an investment bank based in Cairo offering corporate finance and private equity advisory services. Concurrently, she is vice chairman of the group's affiliate company, the Office for Studies & Finance S.A.E. (OSAF), a management and corporate finance advisory firm based in Egypt. Khalifa is currently consulting with the World Bank in Washington, DC.

Since 1990, Ms. Khalifa has been an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, serving as board member from 1995 to 1997 and vice president, programs from 1997 to 1999. Ms. Khalifa is also the founding member and past secretary-general of Egypt's International Economic Forum, and was selected by the World Economic Forum to join its Young Arab Leaders' Group.

Ms. Khalifa has published several articles on the subject of privatization and economic reform. She was also an instructor of economics at the American University in Cairo, where she received her Bachelor's of Arts in economics and political science in 1986 and her Master's of Arts in economics in 1992.

FARID F. NAOOM
Co-Chair, Transport Committee - AmCham Egypt
Owner and President, Rainbow-Cairo, Egypt

Farid F. Naoom is the owner and president of Rainbow-Cairo, Egypt. Rainbow is the sole agent and representative of several U.S. companies in Egypt and the Middle East, and has been a major supplier of locomotive equipment and parts to the Egyptian National Railways since 1995.

Mr. Naoom is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Egypt and is a certified public accountant in the United States. He worked in the health-care industry in the United States from 1972 to 1984.

A citizen of both the United States and Egypt, Mr. Naoom holds a Bachelor's of Science in science and business administration and has undertaken postgraduate studies in business administration at De Paul University in Chicago.

HAMED ISMAIL FAHMY
Chair, International Donor Programs Committee - AmCham Egypt
Managing Director, Allied Corporation Egypt

Hamed Fahmy is chair of the International Donor Programs Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt and the founder and managing director of Allied Corporation - Egypt, a management and economic consulting firm established in 1984.

The firm provides high-level consulting in the areas of public administration, institutional development, economic and trade policy, regulatory reform, commercialization of utilities, financial analysis and feasibility studies, local development, environmental studies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as management, procurement and logistical support systems.

Among the U.S. firms with which Allied has been collaborating are Nathan Associates Inc., ABT Associates Inc., Development Associates and Telcordia Technologies. Mr. Fahmy is a founding member of the Arab Management Association.

HATEM KHEIR
General Manager, Kheir Group

Hatem Kheir graduated from Cairo University as a mechanical engineer in 1981 and worked for one year at the Mechanical Engineering Department in Mansoura University.

He then joined a private sector company in Egypt, and moved to Saudi Arabia from 1984 to 1989.

Mr. Kheir returned to Egypt as the area manager for Peerless Pump Co. USA, until 1993, and then moved to Africa to become the company's agent in Africa, where he still works. Mr. Kheir is one of the founders and board members of the Egyptian Fire Protection Association and has represented Egypt in international conferences in fire protection. He is now director of the Confederation of Fire Protection Association International, which oversees 28 associations around the world.

He is also the only foreign member serving on the fire pump technical committee of the NFPA, and a member of SFPE, USA and FPA, UK.

Kheir Group operates in the field of fluid handling systems, including water and wastewater, as well as process, fire, power and industrial applications. The company represents pump companies from the United States, the United Kingdom, Korea, the Netherlands, Spain and Germany.

HISHAM G. HELMY
Chairman, Maersk Egypt

Hisham Gamal El Din Helmy is the chairman of Maersk Egypt S.A.E. Maersk Egypt is a joint-venture company providing worldwide container transport services to importers and exporters in Egypt. It is part of the Danish A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, and has more than 350 offices worldwide, one of which is Maersk Inc. in Madison, NJ.

In addition, Mr. Helmy is currently managing director of Demline Egypt, which is a RoRo container liner service company that serves west and east Mediterranean ports. He also owns a company called Eng/Hisham Helmy for Commercial Agencies, which acts as the agent and representative of Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd, Liebherr Werk Nenzing GmbH and Royal Boskalis Westminster n.v. International Dredging Contractors.

Mr. Helmy has served as the honorary consul of Ireland in Alexandria since 1990. Mr. Helmy was educated in College Saint Marc in Alexandria and graduated from Alexandria University's faculty of engineering. He has also attended courses at Harvard University in the United States.

HUSSEIN M. LOTFY
Managing Partner and President, Speedotrans

Hussein M. Lotfy holds a Bachelor's in Science in chemistry from the University of Washington in Seattle, where he was a renowned tennis athlete on a full tennis scholarship and a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

After graduation, Mr. Lotfy continued to play tennis on the international circuit and later went on to become the world champion in speedball.

In 1980, he received his Masters in Management from the American University in Cairo.

Speedotrans was established in 1980 with a focus on consultancy services and studies, as well as contract management in power, environment and rapid mass transit.

Mr. Lotfy has been involved in other projects, including the projects of EDF BOOT power plants, wind farms and the Cairo underground Metro system. In 2003, he was chosen by the EU as the local consultant for the Regional Energy Project under the framework of EU-MEDA for the reform of the legal and institutional energy sector framework.

Mr. Lotfy represents the French banking group Credit Industriel et Commercial in Egypt. He is a founder and major shareholder of Misrpack for food packaging as well as founder and board member of Back and Front for software development.

He is also president of I DIG SPORTS LLC, based in Manteca, California, which has been licensee since 2002 for marketing and distribution of I DIG products and operator of idig.com and related websites including idigsports.com.

Mr. Lotfy is a member of AmCham Egypt, the Egyptian Businessmen's Association and the Egyptian-French Business Association. He is also a member of the IEC Technical Committee and the Cairo West Rotary Club.

KARIM RAMADAN
General Manager, Microsoft Egypt

Karim Ramadan is general manager of Microsoft Egypt, a fully owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation and one of Egypt's strongest multinational software manufacturers for personal and business computing.

Mr. Ramadan joined Microsoft approximately six years ago, working in Egypt and the Gulf region, finally returning to Egypt in December 2001 as country manager of Microsoft Egypt. During Ramadan's tenure, Microsoft has worked very closely with the Egyptian government in developing the usage and spread of technology through government-led initiatives such as the Egyptian E-Government Project, the Ministry of Education's School Agreement, the Microsoft Partner Academy and the student and home PC initiatives.

In January 2003, Mr. Ramadan was promoted to general manager of Microsoft Egypt, in line with his knowledge of the Egyptian market and his past experiences at IBM and Oracle, in the United States and the various countries of the Gulf. Mr. Ramadan's main goal remains to drive growth of the Egyptian subsidiary, fostering relations with the Egyptian IT industry, the business community and the government. In a country that enjoys an abundance of youthful technical graduates, Microsoft Egypt is committed to developing local caliber and employs 100-percent local staff.

Mr. Ramadan is a graduate from the American University in Cairo, majoring in economics, and a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

MAGED GEORGE AMIN
Vice Chairman, Luna Cosmetics Co.

Maged Amin graduated from Cairo University's faculty of pharmacy. He has received diplomas in sales and marketing, as well as business administration, from the American University in Cairo. He has also studied flavors, fragrances and cosmetics in Switzerland and Germany.

Since assuming his position in Luna Cosmetics in 1987, Mr. Amin began revitalizing the company, widening its production range and increasing its exports.

With two modern factories, four sales offices and 720 employees, Luna Cosmetics is producing an extensive variety of make-up, cosmeceuticals, toiletries and hotel amenities. Its new factory in October City is considered one of the most modern GMP factories in the Middle East.

Mr. Amin is a board member of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, Chamber of Pharmaceuticals & Cosmetics, as well as a board member of the Institute of Family & Entrepreneurial Business/LAU Lebanon.

MAHA ABOUELENEIN
Managing Director, Promoseven Weber Shandwick Public Relations

Maha Abouelenein, an Arab American living in Egypt, is the managing director of Promoseven Weber Shandwick Cairo and also serves as regional director for the MENA region.

Ms. Abouelenein manages the reputation capital of governments, companies and development organizations through communications strategies and public relations. She has deployed some of the region's largest communications campaigns and has been active in public affairs initiatives and public diplomacy efforts for government and private sector groups.

Ms. Abouelenein holds a Master's degree in communications from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a Bachelor's degree in international business and marketing with a minor in French. She is fluent in English and Arabic, and resides in Cairo, Egypt.

MAHMOUD BAGNEID
President, BM-Egypt

Mahmoud Bagneid is chairman of the board of BM-Egypt, a company specialized in marketing medical and scientific equipment, diagnostics and hospital supplies. BM-Egypt represents 32 of the most prominent international companies, including Johnson & Johnson. Dr. Bagneid is also chairman of Cannes Investment Co. for real estate, whose projects include Costa Del Sol on Egypt's northern coast.

Dr. Bagneid has a B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Cairo University's faculty of science. He has extensive experience in medical biochemistry research, has contributed to a variety of publications in the United States and the United Kingdom, and has 30 years' experience in business.

Dr. Bagneid has been a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt since 1984. He served as a member of the Board of Governors from 1993 to 1995, and vice president, membership from 1997 to 1999 and from 1999 to 2001.

MOHAMED ABDALLAH
Co-Chair, Real Estate Committee - AmCham Egypt
President, Coldwell Banker Affiliates of the Middle East

Mohamed Abdallah holds a Bachelor's of Science in mechanical engineering from the American University in Cairo, which he gained in 1994, combined with pre-graduate courses from different international universities.

Mr. Abdallah started his professional career as a trader in the Egyptian stock exchange. In 1996, he held the position of vice president, trading in EFG-Hermes, one of the biggest financial groups in Egypt.

Currently, Mr. Abdallah is the president/CEO of Coldwell Banker Middle East, the master franchise holder in the region. Coldwell Banker is active in the real estate sector in the Middle East and works to promote this through a variety of activities via the Real Estate Committee in AmCham Egypt.

Coldwell Banker Middle East has succeeded in strategically positioning itself in Egypt as well as Lebanon. It is now working on the final stages of beginning operations in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain.

MOHAMED TAHA MOSTAFA
Treasurer, Egyptian American Bank (EAB)

Mohamed Taha Mostafa graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1978 with a Bachelor's of Arts in economics.

Prior to joining the Egyptian American Bank in 1988 as assistant chief dealer, Mr. Mostafa worked for four years as a petroleum service manager in Mosafco International Co. and five years in the Islamic International Bank for Investment & Development as assistant chief dealer.

Mr. Mostafa was appointed chief dealer at the Egyptian American Bank in 1988, where he was later promoted to deputy manager in 1989, first deputy manager in 1989, manager in 1990, senior manager in 1991, assistant general manager in 1992, deputy general manager in 1993, general manager in 1996 and executive vice president and head of treasury in 2000.

Mr. Mostafa is an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

OMAR MOHANNA
Chairman, Global Protection

Omar Mohanna is an economist and chairman of Global Protection, an Egyptian insurance brokerage and consulting firm.

Mr. Mohanna joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1986 and has held various positions within the organization. He served as treasurer for the Board of Governors from 1990 to 1995 and was re-elected for 1999 to 2001 and then again for 2001 to 2003. He has also served as chair of several AmCham committees, including the USAID and International Donor Programs committees.

Mr. Mohanna is a board member of the Cairo-based regional investment holding company Fleming CIIC and ACE/CIIC Insurance Co.; a board member and honorary treasurer for both the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES) and the New Civic Forum; a member of the Egyptian Businessmen's Association; a former vice chairman and managing director of Egypt Arab African Bank (EAAB); and a former managing director of the ACCOR Hotels Group of Companies in Egypt. He has over 25 years of commercial and investment banking experience with Egyptian and international financial institutions.

He is also a former managing director of the ACCOR Hotels Group of Companies in Egypt.

SAMIR A. KHALIL
Executive Director, Policy & External Affairs, Europe Middle East & Africa, Merck & Co., USA

Samir Khalil has held his current position in Merck & Co. since August 2003. Prior to that, he was managing director for Merck Sharp & Dohme - Egypt, from November 2000.

Before moving to Egypt in November 2000, he was regional director, policy and external affairs for Merck & Co., Inc. (USA), responsible for the company's external and health-care policies and interaction with various governments and health-care providers in the Middle East Africa region. In that position, he played a major role in helping to establish strong standards of intellectual property protection in several countries in the Middle East. He was also instrumental in leading Merck efforts to establish the Gulf Center of Excellence in Ethics and the Ethics Institute of South Africa.

Mr. Khalil has been with Merck since 1974, starting in sales in the Gulf region. In 1982, he moved to the regional office in Greece with the objective of developing Merck's other product lines in the Middle East Africa region. His other earlier assignments included general management in Saudi Arabia and management operations for the Far East/Pacific region.

Mr. Khalil plays an active role in pharmaceutical industry associations. He is currently the chairman of the Middle East Africa Local American Working Group (LAWG) at Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers of America (PhRMA).

He has a Bachelor's of Science degree in pharmacy, gained in 1974, from Alexandria University, Egypt

SOHEIR FARAHAT
Co-Chair, Maritime Committee - AmCham Egypt
President, Ingyco Agencies

Soheir Farahat joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1995. She is president of Ingyco Agencies, a private marketing company established in 1984 that deals in electronics, communications, maritime services (vessels agencies for all Egyptian ports, Suez Canal transit attendance, inland transport and clearance), textiles, wastewater disposal and industrial turnkey projects in the Middle East. The company also deals with marketing projects in the Middle East, as well as marketing of projects under the privatization scheme of the Egyptian government.

Ms. Farahat holds a Bachelor's of Arts in social sciences from the American University in Cairo and joined the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization in Cairo for three years before serving with the World Health Organization Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office in Alexandria until 1983.

She is currently co-chair of the Maritime Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

SPENCER T. KING
President and CEO, International Executive Service Corps (IESC)

Spencer T. King joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1999. He served on AmCham's Tourism Committee and on the Board of Governors in 2002.

He has also served in the Attorney General's office in the State of New Mexico as counsel to the New Mexico Corporation Commission, Security Exchange Department and New Mexico State Police. He acted as director of consumer fraud.

Mr. King served as president of several companies in Latin America and the Caribbean for more than 15 years. He joined IESC in 1992 and has served as chief of party on a series of USAID programs in Jordan, Sri Lanka and Egypt.

He received a Bachelor's of Arts from Hobart College, NY, and a law degree from Tulane Law School, New Orleans, LA.

TAREK M. AHMED SELIM

Tarek Selim has over 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors, as a consultant, program specialist and strategic planning officer. He is trilingual (Arabic/English/French) with experience in Egypt, the United States and several African nations.

Mr. Selim holds both Engineer's and Master's degrees in project management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Cairo University. He currently serves as co-chair of the Environment Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.
