TAHER S. HELMY
President, AmCham Egypt
Partner, Helmy, Hamza & Partners (Baker & McKenzie)

Taher S. Helmy was elected president of AmCham Egypt in May 2003.
He is a partner in the Chicago-based international law firm Baker & McKenzie and a founding partner in the company's Cairo and Riyadh offices.

Dr. Helmy has been a member of Egypt's Privatization Committee and has played a role in the drafting of key economic legislation. He is the founder and chairman of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies and a founder of the International Economic Forum and the Future Generation Foundation. He also served for three terms as a member of the U.S.-Egypt Presidents' Council.

In addition, Dr. Helmy was recently appointed to the governing National Democratic Party's Supreme Policies Council, as well as the Economic Committee.

A graduate of St. Louis University Law School, Dr. Helmy has practiced corporate, banking and commercial law since 1974. He is a member of the Chicago, Illinois and Egyptian Bar Associations, was the first Arab national to be admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, and is admitted before the Egyptian Supreme Court.

D. DAN MCCARTHY

Chairman and Managing Director, General Motors Egypt, S.A.E.

Dan McCarthy began his 37-year career with General Motors in manufacturing with the Pontiac Division. Since then, he has held various manufacturing and general management positions in the United States. He was the original GM factory manager in Egypt, as well as managing director in Kenya and New Zealand. His last position was in GM's North American Operations as director of the Worldwide Facilities Group.

Mr. McCarthy holds a Bachelor's of Science from the Ohio State University and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Detroit.

General Motors Egypt S.A.E. is a joint venture company for the production of Chevrolet and Isuzu pickups, a range of light-duty trucks, minibus chassis, Opel passenger cars, and Chevrolet Frontera and Isuzu Rodeo sport-utility vehicles.

ANIS ACLIMANDOS

President, TransCentury Associates

Anis Aclimandos joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1983. He was elected to the Board of Governors in 1987 and re-elected in 1988. He was chairman of the AmCham Customs Committee in 1989, of the Investment & Trade Committee from 1991 to 1994 and chairman of the International Donor Programs Committee up to his election as vice president, membership in 2001.

Mr. Aclimandos is the president of TransCentury Associates, which manages development projects worldwide. He is also president of "Woodies," a subsidiary of TCA, the import agent for Eastman-Kodak.

A certified accountant, Mr. Aclimandos earned a Bachelor's of Arts in accounting from Cairo University and holds Egyptian and U.S. certification in financial management and analysis.

THOMAS (TOM) E. THOMASON
Vice President, Legal Affairs - AmCham Egypt
Vice President, InterGen Energy, Inc.

Tom Thomason joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1994. He has served as AmCham executive vice president, chairman of the Engineering & Construction Committee and is currently on the Board of Governors serving as vice president, legal affairs. He also serves on the boards of the Bilateral Fulbright Commission and the American University in Cairo.

Mr. Thomason is vice president of InterGen (a global energy company owned by Shell and Bechtel), which develops, owns and operates power plants and related fuel and electricity infrastructure.

InterGen is working in 14 countries, operating and building a total of 21 power stations representing 16,770 megawatts. Joined by Edison Termoelettrica of Italy, InterGen is the developer and owner/operator of Egypt's first privately owned and operated power plant, a $480 million project completed in January 2002 and now in operation selling electricity to the government.

Mr. Thomason holds a Bachelor's of Arts and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas.

HESHAM MEKAWI

President and General Manager, BP Egypt

Hesham Mekawi joined Amoco as an economic analyst in 1990. A year later, he began working in Houston, Texas as a senior economic analyst and then in Chicago, Illinois as a senior financial analyst. In 1995, Mr. Mekawi returned to Houston as commercial director, where he took charge of Amoco's business development in the Middle East.

Following the 1998 merger of the British Petroleum Company with the Amoco Corporation, he was appointed executive assistant of BP-Amoco Exploration, based in London. One year later, he was appointed business unit leader for oil operations in Algeria, working from the company's London headquarters.

In July 2001, Mr. Mekawi returned home to Egypt where he became chairman of BP Egypt.
Mr. Mekawi graduated from Cairo University's faculty of engineering in 1983. He then worked as an engineer for four years before traveling to the United States, where he earned a Master's in Business Administration from Boston University.

LOULA ABOU-SEIF ZAKLAMA

President and Managing Director, Rada Research & Public Relations Co.

Loula Abou-Seif Zaklama established the first privately owned Egyptian advertising agency in 1962. In 1982, she established Rada Research & Public Relations Co., which is specialized in marketing research and public relations services, with particular expertise in new product development. She is a board member of Gallup International, a board and council member of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and a board member of the International Advertising Association (IAA).

Ms. Zaklama was awarded a medal of merit by IAA-Chicago in 1986 and a certificate of excellence by IPRA in 1993. In 1998, she was selected as one of the world's 50 leading women entrepreneurs.

Ms. Zaklama graduated from the American University in Cairo with a Bachelor's of Arts in mass communications. She has also attended several specialized marketing research courses with the Burke Institute in Cincinnati.

MOHAMED TAYMOUR

Chairman, EFG-Hermes Holdings

Mohamed Taymour is the chairman and founder of EFG-Hermes, an investment bank specializing in a range of activities that include brokerage and asset management, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and privatization. EFG-Hermes is listed on both the London and Cairo stock exchanges.

Dr. Taymour has worked as a consultant - for both the Egyptian government and private institutions - on a variety of economic matters, and has held senior positions in investment banking and development banking institutions in Egypt, the United States and Kuwait.

Additionally, Dr. Taymour has been a prominent member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt since 1988, serving as chairman of AmCham's Investment Committee from 1991 to 1997 and as chairman of AmCham's Stock Exchange Committee from 1998 to 2002. In 2003, he was elected as a member of the AmCham Board of Governors. He is also currently the chairman of the Egyptian Capital Market Association; a board member of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies; and a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Taymour earned a doctorate degree from Dartmouth University in the United States and a Bachelor's of Science in industrial engineering from Cairo University.

JAMES PRINGLE
Member of the Board - AmCham Egypt
Senior Counselor, M.A. Kharafi Group

James Pringle is a senior counselor for the M.A. Kharafi Group, one of the largest foreign direct investors in Egypt, representing assets and investments of approximately $1.8 billion. Mr. Pringle's current activities in Egypt are mainly focused on directing new Kharafi projects at Marsa Alam, where the group recently opened an international airport - Egypt's first successful BOT transportation project - and is also undertaking a $1.2 billion tourism and real estate development project.

Before joining the Kharafi Group, Mr. Pringle was vice president for global business development for Bechtel's water business and director of business development for its hotel, theme park and urban development business groups for Europe, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia.

Mr. Pringle served as president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt from 1992 to 1994, and is currently a member of AmCham's Board of Governors. He has been a member of the U.S.-Arab Council on Foreign Relations' advisory board since 1985.

Mr. Pringle earned undergraduate degrees in economics and international relations from the University of Minnesota and completed his postgraduate studies in business administration at the European Institute of Business Administration in Fontainebleau, France.

RODNEY J. EICHLER

Executive Vice President, Apache Corporation
General Manager, Apache, Egypt Region

Rodney J. Eichler, Apache corporation executive vice president and general manager of the Egypt region, joined the company in 1993 as regional exploration manager for the Rocky Mountain region.

In 1995, Mr. Eichler was named Western Region exploration manager before becoming Western Region vice president in 1996. He was transferred to Cairo in 1997 as vice president, exploration and development, Egypt and designated vice president and general manager of Apache Egypt Companies in 1999. In 2003, Mr. Eichler was promoted to corporate executive vice president and general manager, Egypt.

Prior to joining Apache, Mr. Eichler was associated with Axem Resources, Tenneco Oil Company and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Mr. Eichler received his Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science in geological engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and is a Certified Petroleum Geologist and Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

Apache Corporation is a large gas and oil independent with core operations in the United States, Canada, Egypt, the British North Sea and western Australia. Apache has invested more than $2 billion in Egypt since 1996.

HISHAM A. FAHMY
Executive Director - AmCham Egypt

Hisham A. Fahmy has been the executive director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt since 1999. Mr. Fahmy previously held the position of general manager of AmCham Egypt from 1987 to 1993.

As acting director of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies, a non-profit think tank that carries out and disseminates independent economic research, Mr. Fahmy implemented programs that furthered the center's mission and oversaw the financing and administration that sustains them.

Mr. Fahmy also developed high-quality systems and initiated business contacts between one of Egypt's largest international corporations, International Group of Investment (IGI), and its clients and suppliers.

Mr. Fahmy spent a decade acquiring firsthand private sector expertise in travel and tourism, and representing engineering, construction and electronics firms.

Mr. Fahmy graduated from the American University in Cairo in 1974 with a Bachelor's of Science in chemistry and is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and chairman of the Egyptian Society of Association Executives (EgSAE).

DAHLIA KHALIFA
Chairman and CEO, Global Capital Group, S.A.E.

Dahlia Khalifa is chairman and CEO of Global Capital Group S.A.E., an investment bank based in Cairo offering security brokerage, corporate finance, investment banking and asset management services. She is also vice chairman of the group's affiliate company, the Office for Studies & Finance S.A.E. (OSAF), one of the largest management and corporate finance advisory firms in Egypt.

Since 1990, Ms. Khalifa has been an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, serving as board member from 1995 to 1997 and as vice president, programs from 1997 to 1999.
Ms. Khalifa is also secretary-general of Egypt's International Economic Forum, and was recently selected by the World Economic Forum to join its Young Arab Leaders' Group. In addition, she has published several articles on the subject of privatization and economic reform.

Ms. Khalifa is also an instructor of economics at the American University in Cairo, where she received her Bachelor's of Arts in economics and political science in 1985 and her Master's of Arts in 1992.

FARID F. NAOOM

Owner and President, Rainbow-Cairo, Egypt

Farid F. Naoom is the owner and president of Rainbow-Cairo, Egypt. Rainbow is the sole agent and representative of several U.S. companies in Egypt and the Middle East, and has been a major supplier of locomotive equipment and parts to the Egyptian National Railways since 1995.

He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Egypt and is a certified public accountant in the United States. He worked in the health-care industry in the United States from 1972 to 1984.

A citizen of both the United States and Egypt, Naoom holds a Bachelor's of Science in science and business administration and has undertaken postgraduate studies in business administration at De Paul University in Chicago.

KHALED ABUBAKR
"Co-Chairman Petroleum Committee, AmCham Egypt"
Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Genco Group

Khaled AbuBakr is the vice chairman and managing director of Genco Group, the leading private-sector natural gas group in Egypt. Genco's companies include City Gas, House Gas, Master Gas and Genco Consultancy.

Mr. AbuBakr's career spans the history of the gas industry in Egypt, from its inception to the most recent developments in the field. He is a member of the US-based Project Management Institute, the UK-based Institute of Gas Engineers, the American Management Association and the Egyptian Gas Association. He has also been a visiting speaker at universities in both Cairo and Montreal.

Mr. AbuBakr has a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering from Cairo University and an MBA from Montreal University. His advanced professional studies include courses in reform and privatization at Harvard University and financial management of oil and gas companies at the University of Texas.

MOHAMED ELNAWAWY
Chairman and Managing Director, TE Data, S.A.E.

Mohamed Elnawawy is the chairman and managing director of TE Data, a telecommunications services company established in 2001. Currently, TE Data is expanding its network and services to three new markets after having established a competitive position in Egypt.

Before joining TE Data, Mr. Elnawawy served as chairman and managing director of InTouch Communications Services S.A.E., after which he did consultancy work for the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology. He became chairman and managing director of TE Data in October 2001.

Mr. Elnawawy participated in the Egyptian Committee for Draft Legislation, and played a prominent role in the drafting of the new Telecom Law.

MOHAMED S. ROUSHDY

Mohamed S. Roushdy is the regional director of Pfizer Middle East (a subsidiary of New York-based Pfizer, Inc.), which locally manufactures a wide range of pharmaceutical and animal-health products.

In 1995, Dr. Roushdy joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt. In 2000, he was elected chairman of the Pharma-Egypt Association, an organization for research-based pharmaceutical companies operating in Egypt.

Dr. Roushdy received a marketing diploma from the University of Milan in 1978; his Bachelor's of Arts in business administration from Cairo University in 1979; and his Master's degree in pharmacology from the University of Ravenhurst in 1992.

Mustafa Hassan is vice president Middle East of Bristol-Myers Squibb, an international health-care company. The company's mission is to enhance quality of life by providing high-quality pharmaceuticals and related health-care products.

Dr. Hassan has been working in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 25 years, and has diversified experience in the various markets of the Middle East.

He joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1999.

Dr. Saad holds a degree in pharmaceutical sciences.

NIVEEN EL TAHRI

Chairperson and Managing Director, ABN AMRO Bank NV - ABN AMRO Delta

Niveen El Tahri is the country representative for ABN AMRO Bank NV in Egypt.

She is also the chairperson of Delta Securities Egypt, founded in 1994, and chairperson/managing director of ABN AMRO Delta Asset Management, founded in 1997.

Ms. El Tahri is a board member of the state-owned Egyptian Arab Land Bank, the U.S.-based Young Presidents Organization, and the Egyptian/Dutch Business Association. She was also the first woman to sit on the board of the Cairo & Alexandria Stock Exchanges, which she did from 1997 to 2003.

In addition, Ms. El Tahri is a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs; the Egyptian Capital Market Association; the Sunrise Rotary Club; and the governing National Democratic Party's Economic Committee.

She is also the chairperson of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt's Investment & Capital Market Committee.

OMAR MOHANNA
Chairman, Global Protection

Omar Mohanna is an economist, and chairman of Global Protection, an Egyptian insurance brokerage and consulting firm.

Mr. Mohanna joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1986 and has held various positions within the organization. He served as treasurer, in the AmCham Egypt Board of Governors, from 1990 to 1995, and was re-elected for 1999 to 2001, and then again for 2001 to 2003. Mr. Mohanna also served as chairman of several AmCham committees including the USAID and International Donors committees. Mr. Mohanna is a board member of the Cairo-based regional investment holding company Fleming CIIC, and ACE/CIIC Insurance Company.

Mr. Mohanna is a board member and honorary treasurer of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES) and holds the same posts with the New Civic Forum and the Egyptian Association for the Protection of the Environment. He is a member of the Public Policy Analysis Association and the Egyptian Businessmen's Association. A former vice chairman and managing director of Egypt Arab African Bank (EAAB), Mr. Mohanna has over 25 years of commercial and investment banking experience with Egyptian and international financial institutions.

He is also a former managing director of the ACCOR Hotels Group of Companies in Egypt.

SARWAT BASSILY
Owner and Chairman, Amoun Pharmaceutical Company

Sarwat Bassily is the owner and chairman of Amoun, one of Egypt's biggest pharmaceutical companies, which manufactures a broad range of pharmaceutical and veterinary products. He is also a member of the Health Committee of the Shura Council, Egypt's consultative upper house of parliament.

In addition, Dr. Bassily is the head of the pharmaceutical section of the Industrial Union, as well as a member of the Coptic Orthodox Church's Civil Council.

SPENCER T. KING
Senior Vice President for Worldwide Business Development,
International Executive Service Corps (IESC)

Spencer T. King joined the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt in 1999. He served on AmCham's Tourism Committee and on AmCham's Board of Governors in 2002.

He has also served in the Attorney General's office in the State of New Mexico as counsel to the New Mexico Corporation Commission, Security Exchange Department and New Mexico State Police. He acted as director of consumer fraud.

Mr. King served as president of several companies in Latin America and the Caribbean for more than 15 years. He joined IESC in 1992 and has served as chief of party on a series of USAID programs in Jordan, Sri Lanka and Egypt.

He received a Bachelor's of Arts from Hobart College, NY, and a law degree from Tulane Law School, New Orleans, LA.
