Committee Objectives

1. Help members in lobbying with governmental authorities to resolve major obstacles and enhance the climate for economic progress and investment.

2. Work on the advancement and facilitation of industrial development and competitiveness at the fastest possible pace through: Removing the most critical impediments, introducing new ideas, and communicating opinions to decision makers.

Committee Work Plan

As a group we decided that our vision will remain unchanged. The vision is: Proactively step change the competitiveness of Egyptian industry and exports through continuous improvement of investment, business and trade climate. (Zero duties, Zero barriers and billions of investment and exports).

We agreed that we will focus our efforts on 5 main themes with several pillars under each. The core areas and suggested leaders are listed below:

1. Competitiveness, Leader Alaa Hashem
   • Duties deformations and reduction in context of new GAFTA rule of no duty drawback for exports
   • Encouraging the reform program in general as a way to encourage investment in Egypt and export (specific areas to be discussed)



2. Corporate Social responsibility, Leader Hany Loka
   • Main focus area is Human development



3. Collaboration on new legislation , Leader Mohamed Sultan
   • VAT
   • Internal Trading
   • Consumer Protection law change
   • Industry
   • Labor Law



4. Compliance , Leader Mohamed Talaat
   • Raise the awareness and train our people on the Anti Trust law



5. Connecting, Leader Mustafa El Halwagy
   To be more effective as a committee we need to link up with other organization and coordinate our lobbying efforts. The key organizations are:
   • The Egyptian Federation of Industry.
   • EU, USAID
   • IMC
   • Ministry of Trade & Industry
   • General authority for industrial development
   • Chamber of Commerce.
   • Egyptian Junior business association
