Travel & Tourism Committee
Committee Objectives
1. To promote the development of travel and tourism between the United States and
Egypt.
2. To have a liaison with the United States Travel and Tourism industry and to enhance
travel between Egypt and the United States.
3. To provide a forum in which Travel and Tourism American business executives in
Egypt and Egyptian Travel and Tourism business executives with American interests
may identify, discuss and pursue common interests regarding their business activities.
4. To work with Government, individuals and organizations in Egypt on matters of
Travel and Tourism interest. Give stronger support to the tourism industry by
working with the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Board to promote stronger
tourism relations between the United States and Egypt, stronger support for Exhibits,
Data support, and Exchange of Information.
5. The Travel and Tourism Committee will work with the Finance, IT, Taxation and
Marketing Committee to develop points of mutual interest and create a joint futuristic
paper on Tourism development in Egypt.
6. The committee will have a minimum of seven meetings this year, on the assumption
that we will hold meetings every forty-five days.
7. To focus on training, and the development needs of Tourism students and hospitably
staff within Egypt.
8. Organize orientation trips and site visits to places of interest to the members of the
Committee. These sites would include: the New Airport, the Opera House, and the
New Museums.
9. Develop a newsletter for the members to increase their knowledge of the travel and
tourism industry.

Committee Work Plan
Focus Plan
1. Ensure that AmCham provides the necessary support to the committee
work by way of news features in both the Business Monthly Magazine
and Egypt Watch Bulletin Newsletter.
2. Circulate a monthly newsletter, discussing Air and Travel related
news. This newsletter would be developed by Tourism committee members.
3. Focus on a more aggressive speaker program for 2005 -2006. These
would include: sessions with His Excellency the Minister of Tourism,
His Excellency the Minister of Civil Aviation, The Secretary General
of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Heads of US organizations
Director of US Aid program and the US Consular in Egypt and visiting
US Journalists.
4. The Committee will continue to support the King Tut exhibit in
its upcoming event in Dec. 15, 2005 in Florida and May 15, 2006
in Chicago. AmCham will continue to provide technical and data support
and exchange between the Ministers of Tourism and the AmCham network
in the US.
5. The Committee will arrange three to four joint sessions/meetings
with other committees to discuss issues of mutual interest such
as Taxation, Customs, and Human Resources.
Site Program
The Committee will organize a number of site visits both inside
and outside of Cairo. These site visits will: A) Support new projects;
B) create and awareness of new projects and programs for the members
and; C) get media focus to these projects.
