Committee Work Plan
Workgroups:
The role of these workgroups is to extend beyond raising awareness
and interest and to start moving into a more positive approach
towards discussing issues and problems raised in the monthly meetings
and necessitating collective efforts to address them.
These workgroups will be established among interested marketing
professionals with the objectives of working as a team on developing
actionable marketing plans. Each group formed will focus on one
key issue. The group members will hold several side meetings and
collectively come up with actionable and feasible marketing plans
and recommendations. The outcomes and findings of each group will
be presented in a position paper to the Marketing Committee:
Proposed areas of focus for the workgroups include:
- Egyptian Advertising Policies
The Egyptian advertising industry is governed by a conflict of
blend misconceptions and misleading perceptions. In light of this,
the Marketing Committee will organize a debate between Mr. Tarek
Nour, Chairman of TN Holding Co. and Mr. Ihab Talaat, CEO of Egyptian
Arab Media to discuss and evaluate the Advertising and Media Policies.
This debate will be an important input to enhance the proposed
paper deliverables.
- Promoting social values & exploring possible cooperation
with Donors
Social upgrading and development must be a parallel process to
the society's economic development. Attempts will be dedicated
to enforce social values in order to avoid the gaps between social
and economic growth. The Marketing Committee will cooperate with
the Donors Committee at the AmCham in order to utilize the allocated
funds for this purpose effectively and efficiently.
- Marketing Code of Ethics
The Egyptian Marketing Industry is undergoing progressive changes
in terms of number of key players and marketing methodology upgrading.
Thus, it is inevitable to outlay a general framework and establish
a value system to enhance cooperation among the industry key players.
In addition to drawing a line between what's professionally accepted
or not in light of ethical points of view.
- Marketing Practices among the Egyptian Governmental Bodies
The different governmental bodies marketing and advertising campaigns
were largely penetrating the Egyptian street; touching the life
of every Egyptian. The source of these marketing budgets comes
from the tax payers. Thus it is crucial to question the effectiveness
and efficiency of the marketing budgets allocation and utilization.
- Counter Fitted Products
A deadly competitive challenge if not met by strict regulations
and efficient control system. It is high time to provide ideas
on how to establish a control system in order to protect producers'
from the enormous potential sales losses due to forgery and fraud
and to protect customers' rights in terms of safety, convenience,
economic opportunities, etc.
General Monthly Meetings:
The Marketing Committee monthly meetings will resume this year, aiming at updating the Marketers on the latest marketing trends & know-how, tools, and practices.
Throughout the previous meetings we gave room for participants to suggest and provide feedback related to discussion topics of interest, and the most recent meeting topics have been a direct reflection of participants' requests. Matching members' requests resulted in significant increase in number of attendees per meeting.
Accordingly, the committee will resume holding these meetings. The choice of the topics for the next term's monthly meetings also directly reflects the suggestions and recommendations of the regular attendees of these meetings and the marketing need in the Egyptian community.
Video Conferencing:
The Marketing Committee is planning to utilize the AmCham's Video Conferencing facilities to communicate with multinational companies such as, McDonalds, P&G, Kodak, Saatchi & Saatchi,.etc in their head quarters to discuss with their Marketing Directors some topics that the committee had set as its priorities for this year.
Full-day seminars:
From the monthly meeting discussions and networking, we have
noticed and identified marketing related issues requiring more
in-depth coverage than the 2-hour monthly meeting. This is particularly
true for technical marketing issues requiring extensive marketing
expertise and know-how. Some issues may also require more than
one speaker to address thoroughly.
Thus, the next term will witness the organization of a full day
seminar that will be held twice addressing these issues and topics
in details.
The proposed issues for these seminars are:
- Public Relations
The overlapping concepts in terms of PR, marketing & advertising
will be highlighted. Emphasis will be given on how to employ PR
as an image building tool, fulfill the gap between PR deliverables
and expectations and utilizing PR to serve marketing objectives.
- Media Planning & Media Research
The proliferation of various media channels has complicated the
Marketers' decision-making process in terms of maximizing chances
to achieve the required objectives. Accordingly, media planning
and media research became an inevitable practice to ensure the
validity of decisions and their impacts.
