Egypt is now in an era where sustainable development in the social, economic and environmental arenas is the only way forward. And not simply development, but accelerated development, where collaboration between the key stakeholders; the private sector, government institutions and civil society will contribute to the growth and development of Egypt and help it move into the global marketplace.
As the role of the private sector strengthens, it has become vital for corporations to join forces in order to spread awareness to key stakeholders on how Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can have a significant impact on the social and economic development of Egypt.
By establishing the Corporate Social Responsibilty (CSR) Committee, we can create a forum where raising awareness and promoting constructive dialogue on CSR can take place. The role of the committee will facilitate cross-sectoral partnerships, and foster effective and mutually beneficial relationships between businesses and the communities in which they operate.
- Bi-Monthly General Meetings:
The primary objective of the CSR Committee's bi-monthly meetings is to spread awareness of the importance and practice of CSR in Egypt. The meetings will aim at updating companies and other key stakeholders on the latest trends & know-how, tools, and practices in CSR.
- CSR One-Day Conference and Exhibition:
The aim of the one-day conference will be to provide a forum for the discussion of CSR from different perspectives: the recipients of CSR, the regulators, and the private corporations, and the sharing of information and best practice from these three stakeholders. The objectives of the exhibition will matchmaking between the private sector and the social service sector. It will provide an opportunity to facilitate searching for, identifying and creating viable partnerships in the CSR arena.
- CSR Information Resource Center:
The CSR Resource Center's goal will be to make all information and research on CSR available to interested parties. We will need to identify the informational needs of the parties involved in CSR and work towards fulfilling them.
- CSR Annual Award:
In order to encourage good practices and further promote CSR activity in Egypt, the CSR Annual Award will recognize companies that are carrying out valuable CSR initiatives.
- CSR Annual Report:
The Committee will produce an annual report that will describe the status, practices, obstacles and initiatives in relation to CSR practice in Egypt.
- Coordinating the Implementation of the Egypt Business Coalition (EBC) on HIV/AIDS:
The CSR Committee will assist the EBC in its campaign to build awareness of HIV/AIDS in Egypt.
