Courier Services Committee
Committee Objectives
- Establish a permanent channel of communication for AmCham members concerning Express Shipping and Logistics for imports to and exports from Egypt, and to solve problems in the industry which affect business and commerce in Egypt.
- Act in conjunction with the AmCham Customs & Taxation Committee on specific issues concerning Customs Clearance and Tax related issues on Express shipments.
- Provide AmCham membership with regular information on how to avoid delays on clearance when using an Express Service
- Contribute to resolving, reducing and eliminating any regulatory issues and problems affecting the interest of the service providers or customers of express transportation services on a technical, regulatory, environmental or institutional level.
- Promote and improve commerce within Egypt and between countries by fostering the development of a competitive express transportation industry by reducing and eliminating, to an extent consistent with the General Public interest, the delay, uncertainty, complexity or cost arising from regulatory control of the flow of express traffic in Egypt.

Committee Work Plan
- Hold regular meetings with the head of the National Postal Organization of Egypt to address and solve regulatory issues which may impede the speed, efficiency and/or cost of providing world class express transportation services in Egypt.
- Hold regular meetings with the head of Egyptian Customs to address and solve regulatory issues which may impede the speed, efficiency and/or cost of providing world class express transportation services in Egypt.
- Regularly scheduled committee meetings with the Managing Directors of the 5 largest Courier Companies in Egypt to address setting and implementing industry standards in relationship to professionalism and general industry improvements which may benefit the general public and promote commerce to and from Egypt.
- Form two sub-groups within the Express Courier Committee members to focus on:
- Postal, Transport & Environment affairs
- Customs and Security affairs
- Participate as required in the Customs & Taxation Committee meetings and work in cooperation with the Customs & Taxation Committee on issues affecting the Customs Clearance of Express traffic imported into Egypt.
- Publish a quarterly communication to AmCham membership with helpful information on how to avoid delays on clearance when using an Express Service and general information on ways Express Transportation can be used in Egypt to improve cycle times, reduce inventory holding costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
