Put these people on your team and watch it succeed!

For a team to work, it must have a combination of the right kinds of people in it. There are nine roles that must be filled in order for a team to be effective:

1. The Plant: This person is the creative spirit of the team – the one who comes up with solutions to the team’s problems.

2. The Coordinator: This person takes care of traditional “leadership functions,” such as interpreting objectives, pushing for decisions and allocating resources.

3. The Resource Investigator: This person scouts out useful external resources and contacts for the team.

4. The Monitor/Evaluator: This person points out alternative courses of action, and also passes out observations and judgements.

5. The Implementer: This person takes ideas and turns them into action.

6. The Team Worker: This person puts out fires between team members, and makes sure that disagreements don’t affect the team’s overall progress.

7. The Completer/Finisher: This person makes sure all tasks are completed correctly, fixes mistakes and keeps the team on schedule to make deadlines.

8. The Specialist: This person brings specific knowledge to the team that nobody else has – but that is essential if the team is to succeed.

9. The Shaper: This person makes sure the team is properly challenged, and helps the team get through setbacks.
