Employment fair creates new career opportunities

The American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham) organized its second annual Employment Fair for Middle Management in late November 2005. The fair represented a bid to widen employment opportunities for Egyptian business professionals, and to help companies target the right candidates. Firms and potential employees alike benefited from the event. The participating companies, which included both members and non-members of AmCham, announced vacant positions in the fair's booklet and collected applicants' resumes during the fair. Job seekers enjoyed the opportunity to meet with representatives of numerous local and multinational companies.

During the two-day fair, 67 companies offered more than a thousand employment opportunities, and over 4,000 individuals attended the fair - thus confirming our belief that the growing private sector is creating new job opportunities. The participating companies - local as well as multinational - represented a diverse spectrum of fields, including banking, telecom, information technology, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, insurance, oil and gas, and educational institutions, in addition to several recruitment agencies. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Exhibitors have called for future fairs that cater to a diversified base of applicants, especially fresh graduates. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the fair's sponsors: Vodafone, Al Ahram Beverages Company, Cairo Three A, BG Egypt and Banque du Caire, and of course to everyone who contributed to making AmCham's Fair for Middle Management a success. On behalf of AmCham Egypt, I welcome you all for another fruitful year of training at AmCham's Training/Career Development Center.

Sincerely,

Dr. Mohamed Amin S. Hemimi
